Following an executive’s retirement, the parent company of Gilbane Building and Gilbane Development has a new financial chief.

Robert Dillard has joined Gilbane as CFO, according to a July 22 announcement from the firm. He fills the role vacated by Robert Murray, who is retiring after serving as CFO since January 2022, according to his LinkedIn.

Dillard comes to Gilbane from homebuilder KB Home, where he has been CFO since March 2025, according to his LinkedIn. Previously, he was CFO at packaging manufacturer Sonoco and held executive roles at paper and forest product manufacturer Domtar, tool manufacturer Stanley Black & Decker and investment bank UBS.

“Rob Dillard is a proven executive whose strategic discipline, financial expertise and operational focus will support Gilbane’s next phase of growth,” said Gilbane CEO Ed Broderick in the announcement.

The CFO shuffle occurs amid a momentous time for the construction industry. As data centers power the building sector, Gilbane’s own fortunes have grown in tandem. The firm reported approximately $8.7 billion in 2025 revenue, a nearly 13% increase from 2024, per its annual report.

Indeed, Broderick told Construction Dive in June that Gilbane’s ability to perform work as an integrated builder is a key strength, a sentiment that Dillard echoed in the news release.

“As the company continues to advance its integrated platform and lead across real estate, development, construction, and property and facilities management, I look forward to working with Ed and the entire team to build on that momentum, serve clients and create lasting value,” Dillard said in the announcement.

Dillard holds both a bachelor’s degree in economics and an MBA from the University of North Carolina, per his LinkedIn. He will be based out of the firm’s headquarters in Providence, Rhode Island.
